The Aurora East Educational Foundation is a not-for-profit organization established to attract private donations of funds and services for the purpose of enriching educational programs and providing opportunities not otherwise available through traditional revenue sources.
The AEEF is a not-for-profit tax-exempt corporation, organized under the laws of the State of Illinois. It is directed by a group of private citizens, many of whom are graduates of Aurora East High School. The directors serve without compensation. The efforts of AEEF are supported by the Board of Education.
Within three short years from its founding in 1993, the Aurora East Educational Foundation met its first goal of establishing an endowment fund of $300,000. The interest from that endowment is used to fund educational programs in School District 131—programs that would otherwise not exist for lack of financial support. During its brief history, the foundation has funded scores of programs that have touched the lives of thousands of students throughout District 131.
Each year the AEEF sponsors the District 131 Mini-Grants Program, awards a deserving student the Dr. Charles Ponquinette Scholarship, and hosts the annual AEEF Golf Outing.
