Dear Parents, Guardians and Community,
Firstly,
we want to thank you wholeheartedly for the
dedication, care and support you have provided
to your children, our students, as partners
in the educational process. As always, we continue
to stress to you how important your participation
is in educating our children in preschool through
twelfth grade.
It is with great enthusiasm that we share with you some of the successes from
our 2007 state test results. While some grades reflected a slight decrease in
scores this year, others continued to demonstrate trend increases. Students are
demonstrating growth in Reading in grades 3, 5, 6, and 8 while grades 4, 7 and
11 noted a drop in the percentage of students meeting and exceeding standards.
Math has been steadily climbing for all grades although grade 3 declined a bit
this year. Middle School students have made noteworthy gains in reading and math
over a three year period. This year, schools were expected to have 55% of all
students meet/exceed state standards. In addition, individual subgroups that
represent students’ ethnicity, language background, economic status and
disability status must also meet this same standard. While scores for all students
are posted below, more detailed information can be found inside the school report
card links below or by directly going to the Interactive School Report Card found
at iirc.niu.edu.
It is also important to note that students in grades 3-8 and 11 are now tested
annually. The tables below represent two and three year trends for the ISAT [Illinois
Standards Achievement Test] and the PSAE [Prairie State Achievement Exam]. Please
note that our English Language Learners are required to take two tests, one to
demonstrate academic achievement and the other to show growth in English. The IMAGE [Illinois Measure of Annual Growth in English] scores are shown separately
in the school report card. Growth in English is demonstrated through annual ACCESS [English proficiency] scores. A separate report showing the 2005-2006 AMAO [Annual
Measurable Achievement Objectives] was disseminated at each of the individual
schools this fall and may be requested at the district office. |
