Welcome to the 2014 - 2015 school year!
I am very excited about starting my second year as principal of East Aurora High School.
We implemented a lot of changes last year, my first at East.
This year, our challenge is to continue the growth that we experienced during year one. I am very excited about what the future brings. It is definitely a good time to be a Tomcat!
As I mentioned last year, we all know that everything changes, nothing remains the same.
The question is: Are we changing for the better or are we changing for the worse? Moving into the second year, I feel very confident that we are changing for the better.
As many of you already know, part of my educational philosophy is to encourage students to get involved with afterschool activities, clubs, and/or athletics.
Parents, please encourage your sons and daughters to get involved as we begin a new school year. Every successful student that I have ever encountered has made a connection with their school. Maybe the connection was art, or drama, or band. For others the connection may be athletics, clubs or NJROTC.
The job of parents is to encourage your son or daughter to find the connection that best fits them, and then to help them explore all of the possibilities.
When students find that connection, they become invested in their school and motivated to come to school every day. As their attendance and motivation improve, their chances of being successful academically increase.
This is the time to try something new!
