Welcome to NJROTC

The Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) Academic Team has been in existence for 8 years at East Aurora High School. In 2008 the academic team finished in the top 16% of over 1500 teams on the Secretary of Navy National Academic Examination.

Several members of the Academic Team have been selected for a Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps College Scholarship worth approximately $180,000 dollars and appointed as commissioned officers in the United States Military Service after their graduation from college.

The Academic Team consist of about 20 highly motivated cadets who volunteer their time once a week, every Monday from 3:30 until 4:30 from September 1st until April 1st to study the Naval Science 1, 2, & 3 Curriculum. The cadets compete in academic postal’s throughout the school year against various schools throughout the country and can earn academic medals and trophies for their teams for finishing in first place.

They also take educational field trips to various places around the Chicago land Area to places such as: Museum of Science and Industry, Yerkes Observatory, Adler Planetarium, etc. The purpose of this team is to increase the cadet’s knowledge within the Naval Science Program, stay up to date on current events, and help prepare for the Secretary of the Navy National Academic Examination which competes against all of the almost 600 high schools that have the NJROTC Program.

Also, the Academic Team holds a two-day academic camp every year over the summer at East Aurora High School during the month of August. The team supervisor is Master Chief Allen and he can be reached at (630) 299-2376. A bonus is that the cadets have fun and meet new friends.
