The East Aurora High School Class of 2012 summer graduates will receive their diplomas in a special memorial ceremony on Monday, July 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hawks Auditorium at East Aurora High School.
The 20th annual Debra Roberts Memorial Summer Commencement will recognize nearly fifty high school graduates who have completed graduation requirements this summer.
Named after the late wife of East Aurora Schools Superintendent, Dr. Jerome Roberts, the Debra Roberts Memorial Summer Commencement has been an established tradition at East High since 1993.The idea of a summer ceremony was brought to Roberts during his tenure as principal of East High by the late Mrs. Roberts who was also an educator. She believed that summer graduates, like any graduate, deserved to walk across the stage, too.
“These students are a legacy and testament to the idea that she had and to the resiliency that they personify” said Roberts who will serve as Commencement Speaker at the ceremony.
The ceremony is open to the public.
