A fight involving four East High students took place near the end of the day on Friday, December 2nd, across the street from East High School. Two of the students were injured in the incident; two were taken into police custody.
Over the weekend the East High staff and administration planned several precautionary measures to ensure a safe environment for students and staff. These included increased adult presence in the hallways, additional police officers on campus, and using wands to detect weapons on students entering the school.
While student searches take time and are difficult to implement in a building as large as East High, we will always choose safety over convenience, and we trust students, parents and the community agree with this choice.
On Sunday, EH Principal Marina Kosak sent a robo call to parents about the safety measures, including the wand searches implemented today.
