High school juniors can now apply to serve as student representatives on the Board of Education for the 2017-18 school year. Forms can be picked up from Ms. Rivera at the high school or downloaded here. Applications are due by May 5.
Student Board members attend the monthly board meetings, and serve as advisory, non-voting members of the Board of Education for one school year. They will give the board a student perspective in discussions. They will report to the board about student activities, and report to the student council on behalf of the board.
The District has traditionally chosen two students to serve as student Board members.
Student Board members serve a term of office from September to May of their senior year. The Student Representative for the East Aurora School District 131 Board of Education serves as both a representative of the Board to students, as well as a representative of students to the Board.
In order to be a Student Board Member, the Student Representative must be in good academic standing and in the process of completing all requirements for graduation.
Both students will be seated at a Board of Education meeting in August.
