East Aurora School District 131 is now screening 3 and 4 year-olds for the 2017-18 school year. Screening is the first step to entering the district's free preschool program.
District 131 offers half-day, full-day, and specialized programs to meet a child's needs, and classes are taught in English or Spanish.
At the free screening, children will participate in a vision/hearing check, language test, family health and development review.
School districts are mandated by law to screen all 3- and 4-year-old children to determine if they qualify for public preschool.
The screening allows East Aurora staff to see how a child is growing and developing. At the time of the screening, the District can also answer any parenting questions or concerns, as well as connect parents with community resources.
For parents and guardians who would like their child to begin preschool at the start of the 2017-18 school year, it is important to bring your child to a screening.
Parents and guardians may visit the East Aurora Early Childhood Center with their child's birth certificate to schedule a screening with Patti. The Early Childhood Center is located at 278 East Indian Trail, Aurora. For questions, please contact the Center at (630) 299-7460.
