At their May 1 meeting, the East Aurora School District 131 Board of Education approved the appointment of Mr. Edward Moyer to serve as director of assessment and accountability. Moyer will begin his role on July 1.
Since 2014 Moyer has served as chief instructional officer at Decatur Public School District 61, where he was accountable for all aspects of teaching and learning, professional learning, information technology, testing, and state and federal grants administration for the district.
At District 61 Moyer also implemented individual learning devices (1:1) district-wide, including networking, infrastructure, app management, as well as instructional integration and district-wide implementation of data analysis. Additionally, Moyer provided leadership and supervision for various departments and managed research studies to provide data on district initiatives.
Prior to his role at District 61, Moyer served at Proviso Township High Schools District 209, where he was executive director of assessment and planning from 2010-2014, and principal at Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy from 2006-2010.
Moyer began his career as a teacher in 1986. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in astrophysics from Indiana University, and a master’s degree in astronomy from the University of Arizona. Moyer also holds a master’s degree in educational administration from Northern Illinois University.
