Birthplace: Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico
Family: I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan with one sister and three brothers. I have 12 wonderful nieces and nephews. I have two entertaining and spoiled cats: Angel who is 10 and Cielo who is 3. They make me laugh everyday and love to cuddle on my lap when I’m reading a book.
Education: I attended Western Michigan University where I received my Bachelors in Communication and Journalism. I received my Masters from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois and my Administrative Certification for California State University, Dominguez Hill in Carson, California.
Professional Experience: I started my teaching career in the Los Angeles Unified School District where I taught middle school for 5 years at Henry T. Gate Middle School and then taught for 3 years at the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies. There I taught middle school math and Algebra to high school students. I then moved back to Illinois and taught in the Dual Language Program for two years at Channing Elementary in Elgin. I began my administrative career at U-46 where I was the assistant principal at Lords Park Elementary for three years. I am now in my third year at Gates Elementary.

Hobbies/ Favorite Things: I love to travel, especially to warm islands. The sun, warm breezes and water are so calming. I enjoy traveling with my youngest niece and nephew in the summer time. I also enjoy dancing to salsa and merengue music. Hanging out with family and good friends is also a favorite past time. Relaxing with a good book…well there is nothing like it.
