new AEEF members The Aurora East Educational Foundation is pleased to announce that Mr. Mike McCue and Mr. Ken Darby have joined the Board of the Foundation.

Mike attended Hermes Elementary School, Simmons Middle School, and East High School, graduating in 1980.  He proudly served the City of Aurora as a member of the Aurora Fire Department for almost 31 years, and worked his way through the ranks to Battalion Chief.  He attended and was certified in 27 Illinois Fire Service Institute classes in his career.  Almost all of his immediate and extended families attended and graduated from East High, including his wife Annie from the class of 1984.  Mike said that he looks forward to working with the Foundation to provide better education and opportunities for all East Aurora students.

Ken is an alumnus of Bardwell Elementary School, Waldo Middle School, and East High School, also graduating in 1980.  He is also a graduate of Waubonsee Community College and Western Illinois University.  He still resides in Dist. 131, and has three children who are all East Aurora graduates.  He is a past member of the District 131 Board of Education (second generation, following in his mother’s footsteps) and is also a past Band Booster President.  He has been employed in the garage door business for 31 years, and is currently employed by the Kane County Forest Preserve.  In his free time, Ken enjoys spending time with his family outdoors.

The AEEF is extremely proud that these two fine men and community servants have joined our Board.  In addition to their abilities and dedication, they bring the McCue and Darby family names to the Foundation—two of the most well known in the history of District 131.

Mike asistió las escuelas de Hermes Elementary School, Simmons Middle School y a East High School, donde se graduó en 1980. Sirvió con orgullo a la ciudad de Aurora como miembro del Departamento de Bomberos de Aurora durante casi 31 años y trabajó hasta llegar a ser Jefe de Batallón (Battalion Chief). Asistió y se certificó en 27 clases del Instituto de Servicio de Bomberos de Illinois en su carrera. Casi toda su familia inmediata y extendida asistió y se graduó de la East High, incluyendo a su esposa Annie de la clase de 1984. Mike dijo que espera trabajar con la Fundación para proporcionar una mejor educación y oportunidades para todos los estudiantes del Este de Aurora.

La AEEF está muy orgullosa de que estos dos excelentes hombres y servidores de la comunidad se hayan unido a nuestra Junta. Además de su capacidad y dedicación, traen a la Fundación los nombres de las familias McCue y Darby, dos de las más conocidas en la historia del Distrito 131.
