Leftover Kuiper Apples make a great tasting pie and create more fun for students at GCSC.  Students have an authentic  experience peeling, chopping apples and cutting pie dough. But when it came to tasting  the opinions shared about the physical changes and reactions to this chemistry experiment varied.  An apple reveals its differences when it is sliced and covered in cinnamon sugar and then cooked.  There was texture and color change and not all  those who enjoyed the apple as a fruit  agreed that the pie was as eatable.  Some said the brown color did not look good and the cinnamon made the apple taste different. Most of all the apple no longer crunched but was soft and mushy. Those who devoured their pie and wanted more preferred the soft sweet texture.   Look at our pictures and see the engagement  in process and the sensory  explosion that occurred when they had to try  the results.
