East Aurora School District 131 Announces Four Leadership Appointments for the 2026-27 School Year

D131 is pleased to announce four leadership appointments that will support student achievement, instructional excellence, and school operations across the district for the 2026-27 school year.

The appointments include Viressa Davis as Assistant Principal at Gates Elementary School, Nicole Grojean as Assistant Principal at Waldo Middle School, Brad Wieher as Assistant Principal of Teaching and Learning at East Aurora High School, and Megan Gailey as Career and Technical Education (CTE)/Science Division Head at East Aurora High School.

Together, these experienced educators bring decades of leadership in curriculum development, instructional coaching, school improvement, and student support.

"These four outstanding educators bring a tremendous depth of experience and a shared commitment to student success," said Superintendent Dr. Robert Halverson. "Their leadership, passion for education, and dedication to Building Belonging will strengthen our schools and help ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive. We are excited to welcome Viressa and Nicole to the District 131 family and congratulate Brad and Megan on their well-deserved new leadership roles."

All four appointments will take effect July 2026.

Viressa Davis Named Assistant Principal at Gates Elementary School 

Davis joins District 131 after serving as Principal of Edgewood Elementary School in Michigan City Area Schools, where she led school improvement initiatives, implemented data-driven instructional practices, and strengthened academic and behavioral support systems. Throughout her career, she has served as a principal, assistant principal, academic dean, and district-level leader focused on student services, curriculum, and enrollment.

Her leadership experience includes implementing Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), increasing student attendance, reducing disciplinary incidents, and securing funding to expand student programming.

Davis earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee State University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Bethel University. She holds Illinois and Indiana administrative licensure.

Nicole Grojean Named Assistant Principal at Waldo Middle School

Grojean brings nearly 20 years of educational experience to Waldo Middle School. She most recently served as a 6-12 Curriculum and Instructional Specialist in Valley View School District 365U, where she led curriculum development, instructional improvement initiatives, and staff support efforts across multiple schools.

Previously, Grojean served as an Intervention and Enrichment Coordinator and spent 16 years teaching biology, chemistry, and physics at Romeoville High School. Throughout her career, she has mentored teachers, facilitated professional learning communities, supported intervention systems, and championed student-centered practices.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Secondary Education, a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from North Central College.

Brad Wieher Named Assistant Principal of Teaching and Learning at East Aurora High School

A familiar face in District 131, Wieher brings more than 20 years of educational experience and an extensive background in instructional leadership. He previously served as Division Chair for Reading and Operations at East Aurora High School, where he oversaw literacy programming, AVID implementation, school operations, and instructional support.

Wieher has also served as Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Director of Literacy and Interventions for District 131, leading districtwide literacy initiatives, curriculum development, intervention systems, and professional learning while supporting school leaders across the district.

As Assistant Principal of Teaching and Learning, Wieher will continue to support instructional excellence, data-driven decision-making, and teacher development at East Aurora High School.

Megan Gailey Named CTE/Science Division Head at East Aurora High School

Gailey has served East Aurora High School since 2016 as a science teacher and instructional coach, supporting the Science, Career and Technical Education (CTE), Family and Consumer Sciences, Physical Education, Health, and Driver Education departments. She also serves as the school's Night School Administrator, helping students stay on track for graduation through credit recovery programming.
A certified instructional coach and licensed school administrator, Gailey has been recognized for her collaborative leadership, teacher mentorship, and commitment to expanding high-quality STEM opportunities for students. In her new role, she will lead the CTE and Science departments while continuing to support instructional innovation and student achievement.
