About East Aurora School District 131

Rooted in a legacy that stretches back nearly two centuries, East Aurora School District 131 holds a place of deep pride as the first public school district established by the State of Illinois in 1851. What began with a small subscription school on the east side of Aurora in 1836 has grown into one of the most dynamic school communities in the state. Today, District 131 is the 13th largest school district in Illinois, covering 13 square miles within the east side of Aurora, a vibrant, multi-ethnic city of approximately 200,000 residents located 40 miles west of Chicago.

Our district is home to approximately 12,000 plus students and 22 school sites, offering a continuum of learning from birth through high school graduation. Families have access to early childhood programs, a STEAM Academy at Benavides, 12 elementary schools, the Fred Rodgers Magnet Academy, three middle schools, and East Aurora High School, where nearly 4,000 Tomcats grow into scholars, athletes, and leaders.

With over 1,000 certified educators, the majority holding advanced degrees, our students are supported by dedicated professionals who are committed to their growth both inside and outside the classroom.

East Aurora School District 131 is more than a school district, it is a community. We are proud of the rich diversity our students and families bring to our halls, and we are committed to preparing every graduate to make a difference in their community.

"Once a Tomcat, Alwats a Tomcat!"

The Illinois State Board of Education compiles a Report Card for every school and district each year, based on data including test scores, demographics, financial information and improvement plans. The Report Card demonstrate how well a school or district performs compared to others in the state.
