The East Aurora School District 131 Board of Education approved the promotion of Kathleen (Katie) Kogut at its regular meeting on July 16.

Kogut will serve as interim director of early childhood programs, effective July 3.

“Ms. Kogut has done a great job of ensuring that our early childhood students have the best opportunity to be prepared for kindergarten,” said Steve Megazzini, assistant superintendent for human resources. “Katie has been an integral part in the growth of the program.”

Kogut most recently served as principal at the Early Childhood Center. She has over 15 years of experience in education. She started in District 131 in 2015 and has since been responsible for the instructional leadership, program development, growth, and operations of four preschool grant programs that serve over 900 children annually.  She has also established and implemented a vision for the programs, defined desired results and goals that lead to school improvement. 

Ms. Kogut received her bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and her master’s degree from University of Phoenix. She’s also received a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from Lewis University.
