Benavides Robotic Engineers Explore the MoonLos Ingenieros Robóticos de Benavides Exploran la Luna

This April, the first grade students at Benavides STEAM Academy were scientists, technology experts, engineers, and mathematicians as they designed and built a robotic arm for a moon rover buggy in STEAM class, inspired by NASA’s astronauts’ real life space explorations. During the engineering design process, they constructed the arms out of a variety of materials that would be able to collect rocks off of the surface of the moon. To measure the strength and durability of their arms, the students had to test them using a pretend buggy and faux moon rocks. This activity aligns with East Aurora’s Dual Language curriculum Unit 5—Observing the Messages of the Natural World.

Este abril, los estudiantes de primer grado de Benavides STEAM Academy fueron científicos, expertos en tecnología, ingenieros y matemáticos mientras diseñaban y construían un brazo robótico para un vehículo lunar en la clase STEAM, inspirado en las exploraciones espaciales de la vida real de los astronautas de la NASA.
