AEEF 2021 Golf OutingAEEF 2021 Golf Outing

After a year of no events due to the pandemic, the annual AEEF golf outing was held in July at the Phillips Park Golf course in Aurora. Similar to the last outing in 2019, the morning of the event started as a windy, cloudy and drizzly day. The weather cleared up and after the registration process was completed which included a lunch provided by Sodexo, the golfing commenced.

According to co-chair, Jan Kenyon, the preparation for this year’s golf event was very short, due to the uncertainty of the pandemic protocols. Upon receiving the green light, the committee worked quickly to gather sponsors, donors, and golfers for this major fundraising event.
There were a total of 124 participants which included Tomcat alumni, current and former D131 teachers and staff, D131 school board members, local politicians and many Tomcat friends from near and far. Some participants even came from out of state specifically for the event with the furthest coming from Arizona and Florida.
After the golfing was completed the participants enjoyed dinner provided by Country Store and Catering, and a brief awards/raffle ceremony was conducted. Mrs. Kenyon announced the winners of the golf competition and the presentation of prizes, namely:

Hole Contests:

Closest to the Pin (Women) #2 Linda Roach
Longest Drive (Women) #5 Deb Lang
Longest Putt (All) #9 Steve Berliant
Longest Drive (Men) #15 Mark Johnson
Closest to the Pin (Men) #17 Dave Piasecki
Longest Putt (All) #18 Matt Piasecki

Scramble Winners

AEEF Board Member, Kate Mesiacos continued with the announcement of the Raffle Prize winners which were provided by numerous donors, sponsors and local businesses. In addition, AEEF Advisor, Dick Schindel invited all participants and committee members to give a standing ovation to Bill J Deligiannis, the outgoing Chairman of AEEF who has worked hard for the progress of the organization over the years.
The success of the golf outing is due to the tireless efforts of the Co-Chairs, Jan Kenyon, Rhonda Mont and Steve Kenyon and numerous volunteers who donated their time and talents to make the event a success. These dedicated volunteers include Dianne Renner, Trina Zinzer, Kate Mesiacos, Ann Johnson, Michael McCue, Lisa Morales, Josie Gehler, Dick Schindel, Dan Barreiro, Tom Madden, Merry Carey, Ken Darby, Lou Hernandez, Dianne Thomas, Ray Torres, Vitri Rachmadiyanto, Darnell Gibson, Pat Rogers and Bill J Deligiannis
