District Hosts Event Aimed at EA Fathers, Encourages Family EngagementEl distrito organiza un evento dirigido a los Papas de EA y promueve la participación familiar

Within District 131, family engagement is paramount to fostering a healthy educational environment for our students.

Groups like the Bilingual Parent Advisory Council (BPAC), the African American Parent Association (AAPA), the Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council, and the Council of Ambassadors for All Parents (CAAP) offer a welcoming and collaborative space for East Aurora parents and guardians to connect with their parent/guardian peers and form relationships with the staff and administrative leaders at their child’s school and the district at large.

School-based programs and activities may often be targeted towards maternal figures in a child’s life, yet the role of a father, uncle, or grandfather is just as impactful when addressing a student’s educational journey.

This year, District 131’s Family & Parent Engagement department hosted an event specifically for father figures in East Aurora, entitled “Strengthening Families: The Critical Role of Fathers”. The event took place on Wednesday, May 24 at Belle Salle Banquet Hall in Aurora. District 131 father figures were invited with the hope that this be a first in a tradition of events and conversations meant to bring fathers deeper into their child’s learning.

Javier Solano, father of two East Aurora students, was the brainstorm behind bringing East Aurora fathers together to stress the importance of fathers getting involved in their child’s education.

In addition to Mr. Solano, speakers included, Dr. Juan Corona, Waldo Middle School Assistant Principal, Lily Olayo, BPAC President as well as Dr. Jennifer Norrell, Superintendent of Schools.

East Aurora remains committed to fostering productive relationships with our families, as they are an important building block in the support system meant to allow each and every student to reach their full potential.

Many thanks go out to every District 131 father figure who attended the event and the staff and administrative leaders who made the collaboration possible.

Dentro del Distrito 131, el compromiso de las familias es primordial para fomentar un entorno educativo saludable para nuestros estudiantes.

Grupos como el Comité Asesor de Padres Bilingües (BPAC), la Asociación de Padres Afroamericanos (AAPA), el Comité Asesor de Padres de la Superintendente y el Comité de Embajadores para Todos los Padres (CAAP) ofrecen un espacio de bienvenida y de colaboración para que los padres y tutores de East Aurora se conecten con sus compañeros padres/tutores y formen relaciones con el personal y los líderes administrativos de la escuela de sus hijos y del distrito en general.

Los programas y actividades escolares a menudo se dirigen a las figuras maternas en la vida de un niño, pero el papel de un padre, un tío o un abuelo es igual de importante a la hora de abordar la trayectoria educativa de un estudiante.

Este año, el Departamento de Participación de Familias y Padres del Distrito 131 organizó un evento específico para figuras paternas en East Aurora, titulado “Fortalecimiento de las familias”: El papel fundamental de los papas”. El evento tuvo lugar el miércoles 24 de mayo en el Belle Salle Banquet Hall en Aurora. Se invitó a las figuras paternas del Distrito 131 con la esperanza de que éste fuera el primero de una tradición de eventos y conversaciones destinados a implicar más a los papas en el aprendizaje de sus hijos.

El Sr. Javier Solano, padre de dos estudiantes de East Aurora, fue el artífice de reunir a los padres de East Aurora para enfatizar la importancia de que los papas se involucren en la educación de sus hijos.

Además del Sr. Solano, los oradores incluyeron, el Dr. Juan Corona, Subdirector de Waldo Middle School, Lily Olayo, Presidente de BPAC, así como la Dra. Jennifer Norrell, Superintendente de Escuelas.

East Aurora mantiene su compromiso de fomentar relaciones productivas con nuestras familias, ya que son un elemento importante en el sistema de apoyo destinado a permitir que todos y cada uno de los estudiantes alcancen su máximo potencial. Muchas gracias a todas las figuras paternas del Distrito 131 que asistieron al evento y a los líderes administrativos y personal que hicieron posible esta colaboración.
