5th Grade Fieldtrip to Joliet Junior CollegeExcursión de 5° grado a Joliet Junior College

On Friday, February 23, the fifth graders at Krug went to Joliet Junior College.  They visited the Herbert Trackman Planetarium and Cronin School. The planetarium visit was led by Caitlin Lee of JJC, and she took them to the Moon, Jupiter and two of its moons, and out further to view our entire galaxy!  They also learned about Nasa’s upcoming moon mission project, Artemis.  
They had lunch in the campus cafeteria before going to the Cronin School.  The one-room schoolhouse was built in 1863, on the Cronin farm in Shorewood, IL.  It provided education for students from grades 1-8.  Students got to view life in a classroom around the turn of the century, comparing and contrasting it to their present day learning environment.

El viernes, 23 de febrero, los alumnos de quinto grado de Krug fueron a Joliet Junior College. Visitaron el Planetario Herbert Trackman y la Escuela Cronin. La visita al planetario fue dirigida por Caitlin Lee de JJC, quien los llevó a la Luna, Júpiter y dos de sus lunas ¡y aún más lejos para ver toda nuestra galaxia! También aprendieron sobre el próximo proyecto de misión lunar de la NASA, Artemis.

Los estudiantes almorzaron en la cafetería del campus antes de ir a la Escuela Cronin. La escuela de un solo salón fue construida en 1863, en la granja Cronin en Shorewood, Illinois. Ésta brindó educación a estudiantes de 1° a 8° grados. Los estudiantes pudieron ver cómo era la vida en un aula a principios de siglo comparándola y contrastándola con su entorno de aprendizaje actual.
