District leadership is consistently researching innovative, best practices to springboard East Aurora and its students to the next level of learning and development. Jalitza Martinez, Associate Superintendent for Student and Staff Services, has done just that in her efforts to bring the new EA PAWS Program to fruition. Conversations began in the spring and will become fully realized for the 2023-2024 school year, thanks to Ms. Martinez’s forward thinking on how best to serve the social and emotional well-being of all students.

Many will recall the first unofficial comfort dog, Snoopy, who visited many elementary schools alongside her owner, EASD 131 Board of Education President, Annette Johnson. Now the goal is to have Pet therapy animals at the elementary, middle and high schools. East Aurora is grateful for the dedication and forward thinking of its leadership team, including Ms. Martinez and Dr. Norrell, for leading the charge on such initiatives.

El liderazgo del distrito está constantemente investigando las mejores prácticas innovadoras para impulsar a East Aurora y a sus estudiantes al siguiente nivel de aprendizaje y desarrollo. Jalitza Martínez, Superintendente Asociada para Servicios Estudiantiles y de Personal, ha hecho precisamente eso en sus esfuerzos por llevar a buen término el nuevo Programa PAWS de EA. Las conversaciones comenzaron en la primavera y se realizarán plenamente para el año escolar 2023-2024, gracias a la visión de futuro de la Sra. Martínez sobre la mejor manera de servir al bienestar social y emocional de todos los estudiantes.

Muchos recordarán al primer perro de consuelo no oficial, Snoopy, que visitó muchas escuelas primarias junto a su dueña, la presidenta de la Junta Educativa del EASD 131, Annette Johnson. Ahora el objetivo es tener animales de terapia de mascotas en las escuelas primarias, secundarias y preparatorias. East Aurora agradece la dedicación y la visión de futuro de su equipo directivo, incluidos la Sra. Martínez y la Dr. Norrell, por dirigir este tipo de iniciativas.
