Did you hear the crunch? Today Beaupre Elementary welcomed some special guests, including the USDA’s Office of Community Food Systems’ Director, and Midwest Farm-to-School Regional Lead. All were gathered for the “Great Apple Crunch” — an event featuring 1 million students across the Midwest biting into an apple at the same time! The hallway was filled with smiling students enjoying the event and each other. All students received an apple in their lunch from Preferred Meals. Special Education resource teacher Geoff Adler and Principal Caridad Garcia also provided a tour of the new garden. Beaupre is one of the USDA’s Farm to School grant-funded schools, funding the school’s new garden and the after-school nutritional program provided by the VNA. What a fun day for our Pumas!
