Linda Ragsdale Visits DieterichLinda Ragsdale Visits Dieterich

On Friday, May 10, author Linda Ragsdale visited our students and staff. Linda is an award winning author, illustrator and international speaker/teacher who shares her message of peace to people around the world. During her visit, Linda spoke to the entire student body about her passions as a lover of words (logophile) and as an artist. She also signed over 100 copies of two of her books, including The Peace Dragon and Brainstorm

The Peace Dragon was written during Linda’s recovery from the Mumbai attacks in 2008. The book honors the two friends she lost in those attacks and sends a message of unity, community and non-judgment. Brainstorm is picture book that encourages imagination and offers the reader a chance to interpret the story in his or her own way.

Students and staff prepared for Ragsdale’s visit by creating tie-dye shirts with the assistance of Mrs. White. They also performed acts of peace which were displayed as a community project in the shape of a Peace Dragon.
