Reading just got a whole lot more accessible for the families of Hermes Elementary School and the surrounding neighborhood! Hermes is thrilled to announce the official installation and opening of our very own Little Free Library, a beautiful, new fixture dedicated to fostering a love of reading throughout the community.

This library is more than just a box for books—it’s a celebration of literacy and neighborliness. A Little Free Library operates on a simple, honor-system motto: “Take a Book, Share a Book.” This small book-sharing box provides a 24/7 source of free reading material for all ages. It is a wonderful, accessible way for children and adults alike to discover new stories, share their favorites, and build stronger community connections.

“I am so excited to share this library with our school community,” said Eileen Pasturczak, 5th grade teacher. Mrs. Pasturczak won a grant to make this library possible. “We are so proud to host this library and provide a simple, free way for everyone in our community to keep reading all year long. Our hope is that it becomes a true neighborhood hub.” The grant included over 200 brand-new books in both English and Spanish to help stock the library.

Esta biblioteca es mucho más que una simple caja para guardar libros— es una celebración de la lectura y la convivencia. Una Pequeña Biblioteca Gratuita se rige por un lema sencillo y basado en la confianza: “Toma un libro, comparte un libro.” Esta pequeña caja para compartir libros ofrece acceso 24/7 a material de lectura gratuito para todas las edades. Es una manera maravillosa y accesible para que niños y adultos descubran nuevas historias, compartan sus favoritas y fortalezcan los lazos comunitarios.

“Estoy muy emocionada de compartir esta biblioteca con nuestra comunidad escolar,” dijo Eileen Pasturczak, maestra de 5.o grado. La Sra. Pasturczak ganó una subvención para hacer posible esta biblioteca. “Nos enorgullece tener esta biblioteca y ofrecer una manera sencilla y gratuita para que todos en nuestra comunidad continúen leyendo a lo largo de todo el año. Nuestro deseo es que se convierta en un verdadero punto de encuentro del vecindario.” La subvención incluyó más de 200 libros nuevos, tanto en inglés como en español, para abastecer la biblioteca.
