Music brings energy to Benavides STEAM Academy! As East Aurora School District #131 embarks on its second quarter of instruction, Mrs. Marisa Voltz, the music teacher, is diving into Unit #2 of the curriculum with her Kindergarten students, focusing on Melody. In this phase of their learning, students will explore high and low sounds, as well as ascending and descending pitches. They are also honing their ability to keep a steady beat through counting and sound-making activities. For instance, when Mrs. Voltz holds up the card for “three,” students will clap, drum, or use instruments to represent that number, reinforcing connections to their math lessons. They experiment with a variety of instruments, including boom whackers, to achieve their musical goals.
