Military Ball Recognizes Cadets, Allows Tomcats to CelebrateEl baile militar reconoce a los cadetes y permite celebrar a los Tomcats

Old Hollywood came back to life on Saturday, March 19 for District 131’s Military Ball.

Held at the Belle Salle Banquets, cadets who are part of East Aurora’s Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) were invited to this formal gathering, akin in many ways to a traditional prom.

The yearly celebration is meant to promote camaraderie amongst cadets, allow them to socialize together and experience formal etiquette outside of the school environment, and recognize those amongst the NJROTC unit who achieved the distinction of court.

The evening began with a recognition of honored guests from the district’s administrative team as well as a dinner. Cadets were expected to arrive in theme–this meant suits, ties, evening gowns, and glamorous hair and accessories were the norm.

Those students who were voted Queen, King, Princess, and Prince for each grade level were also presented with fanfare, while the cutting of the cake saw the oldest and youngest cadets presented with the first slices.

From there, students were invited to enjoy the live DJ on the dance floor for the remainder of the night.

Throughout the ceremonial elements of the night, an equal amount of reverence for tradition and fellowship mingled with a levity that signaled this as a group full of mutual respect for one another. District 131 continues to wave our flag of cadets within the NJROTC program with particular pride.

Thank you to all the NJROTC boosters and Department staff who made the presence of Old Hollywood alive and well for these hardworking students.

El Antiguo Hollywood volvió a la vida el sábado, 19 de marzo para el baile militar del Distrito 131.

Celebrada en los Banquetes de Belle Salle, los cadetes que forman parte del Cuerpo de Entrenamiento de Oficiales Jóvenes de la Reserva Naval (NJROTC) del Este de Aurora fueron invitados a esta reunión formal, parecida en muchos aspectos a un baile de graduación tradicional.

La celebración anual está diseñado a promover la camaradería entre los cadetes, permitirles socializar juntos y experimentar la etiqueta formal fuera del entorno escolar y reconocer a aquellos de la unidad NJROTC que lograron la distinción de la corte.

La tarde comenzó con un reconocimiento a los invitados de honor del equipo administrativo del distrito, así como con una cena. Se esperaba que los cadetes llegaran vestidos de forma temática, lo que significaba trajes, corbatas, vestidos de noche y un peinado y accesorios glamurosos.

Los estudiantes que fueron elegidos Reina, Rey, Princesa y Príncipe de cada grado también fueron presentados en una manera que atrae mucha atención, mientras que en el corte del pastel los cadetes de mayor y menor edad recibieron los primeros pedazos.

A partir de ahí, los estudiantes fueron invitados a disfrutar del DJ en vivo en la pista de baile durante el resto de la noche.

A lo largo de los elementos ceremoniales de la noche, una cantidad igual de reverencia por la tradición y el compañerismo se mezcló con una frivolidad que señalaba que se trataba de un grupo lleno de respeto mutuo. El Distrito 131 sigue ondeando nuestra bandera de cadetes dentro del programa de NJROTC con un orgullo especial.

Gracias a todos los impulsores del NJROTC y al personal del departamento que hicieron que la presencia del Antiguo Hollywood estuviera viva para estos estudiantes trabajadores.
