Senior Night Helps Tomcat Families Stay on TrackLa Noche de los Seniors ayuda a las familias de Tomcat a mantenerse en el buen camino

On September 25 the East Aurora High School Counseling Department coordinated the Senior Night for the Class of 2026. This year, Senior Night was coordinated as two separate presentations in the East High Auditorium. At 6PM, the presentation was offered in Spanish. The English presentation started at 7:30PM. Each presentation began with school-based information presented by a member of the counseling department. Daisy Cruz presented in Spanish. The English counselor slides were presented by. Nikki Mendez and Matt Sheahan.

Daisy Sanchez, East High’s admission representative from Waubonsee Community College, continued the presentation with general information about college and career pathways, and various post-secondary options. Sanchez also promoted WCC’s College Night on October 6. Christian Montes, of the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) was the final speaker, presenting on the FAFSA and financial aid process for graduating seniors. Completion of the process is an Illinois State requirement for graduation. The FAFSA officially opens on October 1.

In addition to the Senior Night presenters, Vanessa Kirchner, EAHS’ Freshman Admission Counselor for Aurora University, had a table set up in the lobby. Kirchner was there to answer questions about the Aurora University and EAHS partnership that has created opportunities for the Class of 2026 to earn Direct Admission into AU. Students that meet AU’s specific GPA requirement have been offered automatic admission into the university, without having to fill out a separate application. Directly admitted students were sent next steps to verify their admission and scholarship awards. Students and families with additional questions are encouraged to reach out to Kirchner for support.

El 25 de septiembre, el Departamento de Consejería de la Escuela Preparatoria East Aurora coordinó la Noche de Último Año para la Clase de 2026. Este año, la Noche de Último Año se coordinó como dos presentaciones separadas en el Auditorio de la Preparatoria East. A las 6:00 p. m., la presentación se ofreció en español. La presentación en inglés comenzó a las 7:30 p. m. Cada presentación comenzó con información escolar presentada por un miembro del departamento de consejería. Daisy Cruz presentó en español. Las diapositivas del consejero en inglés fueron presentadas por Nikki Méndez y Matt Sheahan.
