Simmons STEAM Night for girlsSimmons STEAM Night for girls

On May 9, Simmons Middle School hosted a girls-only STEAM Night.

Girls from Simmons, plus incoming sixth graders from feeder schools, were invited to discover the fun of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math), and learn about exciting career opportunities available for women.

Students got to talk one-on-one with women actively working in STEAM careers, and listen to a panel of women talk about their specific jobs. Girls also visited the many presentation booths set up by participating organizations. Pizza dinner, too!

Thanks to all our partners who made this evening special, including Argonne National Lab, Simmons Middle School staff, Fox Valley Water Reclamation District, Exelon, Fermilab, Caterpillar, District 131 IT Department, Sodexo, and Northrop Grumman.

Girl power!
