East High’s Tomcat Cadets hosted a Brain Bowl on February 17. A Brain Bowl is an academic/trivia competition where NJROTC teams are pitted against one another.
Teams of up to six players, and four play at any given time. A moderator reads questions, and a buzzer system is used to identify the player who answers first. Points are awarded for correctly answering questions and is deducted when a player answers incorrectly. The team winning the tossup is eligible to win points for correctly answering the follow-up bonus questions. The team with the most points wins the game.
Questions about pop culture and current events are used in a Brain Bowl. Results for this competition: 1st Place: Wheeling; 2nd Place: Richards; 3rd Place: Freeport; and 4th Place: East Aurora. Other schools participating were: Proviso East, Proviso West and Zion Benton. What fun!
