Tomcat seniors take the SATLos seniors Tomcat toman el SAT

On October 14, 685 seniors from the Class of 2021 arrived at East High to take the SAT exam. While our schools continue full-remote learning, taking the in-person SAT test is critical because it is a graduation requirement, and many colleges use this test to help determine scholarships and admission.

At 7:45 a.m., students arrived on campus and were greeted by positive, inspiring sidewalk messages from our caring East High teachers and staff. Students checked in at one of 15 kiosks to have their temperature checked. Wearing a mask at all times—and carrying two #2 pencils, an approved calculator, and their school ID, our Tomcats safely dispersed to 100 testing rooms, with no more than eight students in each room. Testing rooms were staffed by dedicated teachers and staff from both the high school and our middle schools.

Our Tomcats were provided grab-and-go breakfast and lunch, with round-trip bus transportation to those in need. Following the test, students had an opportunity to visit an outdoor mini college fair on the Roy E. Davis Field, where admission representatives from Aurora University, Waubonsee Community College, and the National Guard were available to speak with students.

We are so proud of our Tomcats, as 93% of the entire senior class seized the opportunity to fulfill the Illinois State graduation requirement and receive a reportable score for college admission and scholarships. Way to go, Tomcats!

El octubre 14, 685 seniors de la Clase de 2021 llegaron a East High para tomar el examen SAT. Aunque nuestras escuelas siguen con educación completamente remota, tomando el SAT en persona es muy importante porque es un requerimiento de graduación, y muchas universidades usan el examen para determinar becas y admisión.

A las 7:45 de la mañana, los estudiantes llegaron al campus y fueron saludados por mensajes inspirantes de gis escritos por nuestros maestros y personal de East High. Los estudiantes llegaron para registrarse en uno de quince quioscos, y les tomaron su temperatura. Usando mascara a todo tiempo-y con dos lápices #2, una calculadora apropiada, y su identificación, nuestros Tomcats seguramente viajaron a 100 cuartos de examen separados, limitando el número de estudiantes en cada cuarta a ocho. Los cuartos de examen estaban atendidos por maestros dedicados de nuestra secundaria y escuela intermedia.

Nuestros Tomcats fueron proveídos con desayuno y almuerzo rápido, y con transportación de autobús de ida y de venida para los que necesitaban. Siguiendo el examen, los estudiantes tuvieron la oportunidad de visitar una mini feria de colegio en el campo Roy E. Davis, con representantes de admisión de Aurora University, Waubonsee Community College, y el Guardia Nacional listos para hablar con los estudiantes.

Estamos muy orgullosos de nuestros Tomcats, porque 93% de la clase de cuarto ano tomaron la oportunidad de completar este requerimiento de graduación estatal y también recibir una calificación reportable para admisión a Universidad y becas. Bien hecho, Tomcats!
