Two Beaupre Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP60) Student Ambassadors were selected to attend the FUTP60 Student Ambassador Summit. Noreidy Ruiz and Diego Delgado are the second and third students to ever be selected from Aurora, IL! Beaupre is proud of these students for overcoming all obstacles and being selected to attend the FUTP60 Student Ambassador Summit. This year the FUTP60 Student Ambassador Summit will take place July 16-19 in Atlanta, GA.
Just what is Fuel Up to Play 60 at Beaupre?
Fuel Up to Play 60 is about living a healthier lifestyle by eating right, building leadership skills, and being active. Students fuel up their body with healthy food to play a minimum of 60 minutes a day. Each of our students have to meet goals and accept challenges, which gives them points when completed. The challenges vary, such as sitting next to a new student to make a new friend to creating a sign about joining FUTP60. Each year we select two plays from the online playbook. This year our healthy eating play is Breakfast for Everyone, First Meal Matters and our physical activity play is NFL Flag in School, Get in the Game! Our Student Ambassadors do a great job getting the FUTP60 team together to promote breakfast. They utilize our amazing breakfast cart, which they decorated with nutritional facts and pictures of healthy foods. They organize and display the breakfast for that day and give information on why it’s important to eat breakfast. For our physical activity play, our team gets together during recess to organize our flag football games. They do everything from setting up the field, playing, and then breaking it down to put back into storage. We run different drills and skills Monday through Wednesday, competition Thursdays with prize giveaways, and lead up to our Flag Football Friday games. Beaupre has three Student Ambassadors, which are the leaders, or captains, of our school. In order to become a Student Ambassador, they need to reach level 3, which is 30,000 points. Once they reach level 3, they then take on a bigger role and meet with the Program Advisor, Joey Styles, to brainstorm, coordinate, and lead different events, sports, and marketing campaigns. They rally other students and commit to leading healthy, sustainable changes in our school. Every year there is a FUTP60 Student Ambassador Summit where Student Ambassadors attend a three-day event with NFL players, coaches, Midwest Dairy Council, FUTP60 Program Advisors, and other leaders of major companies from all over the states. It’s an amazing event that helps build leadership skills and gives students the knowledge and tools to bring back in living a healthier life style. It is a tremendous honor to be selected to the FUTP60 Student Ambassador Summit! 38 million students are involved with FUTP60. Out of that 38 million, 60,000 have reached student ambassador status. From 60,000 Student Ambassadors, about 350 have reached the criteria to apply for the Summit. After review of all applications, around 170 are selected to attend the Summit. Way to go Noreidy and Diego!
