Congratulations to the Waldo Girls Soccer team for winning the City of Lights Tournament.
The Wildcats played a hard-fought game vs. the Jewel Jaguars and were victorious with a score of 2 – 0. Valeria Nunez scored the first goal, while Carolina Nunez scored on a penalty kick to seal the game. Luna Salgado Castaneda made multiple saves in goal for the shutout. The Wildcats played strong defense all season and only gave up 4 total goals throughout the entire season. The Lady Wildcats ended the season undefeated, with 8 wins, 0 losses, and 1 tie.
The Wildcat players for the season were: Melody Ajiataz, Ailyn Alvarez, Angelique Arres Rivera, Mairim Arres-Rivera, Alondra Bravo, Camila Bravo, Juliana Bravo, Yaricsa Esquivel-Lopez, Christina Fuentes, Natalie Garibay, Maria Gomez Loreto, Evelyn Gutierrez, Caritza Hernandez, Jennifer Lopez, Neftali Lopez Sermeno, Daisy Marquez, Emily Marquez, Zuleyma Martinez, Kassandra Melchor Ramirez, Carolina Nunez, Valeria Nunez, Melissa Ruiz Ortega, and Luna Salgado Castaneda.
The Wildcats were coached by Raffe Benavides, Fran Olsen, and Ian Jones, and the coaches are incredibly proud of the effort and energy that the Wildcat players put in throughout the year.
The Wildcats also want to thank all of the parents, teachers, and fans for all of their support throughout the school year and season. Way to go Wildcats!
